Terms & Conditions

Bookings

  • Reservations are taken by phone and email only 

  • A non-refundable deposit of £250.00 is required to secure your reservation, made by bank transfer.

  • Confirmation of your reservation will be sent via email along with a copy of the terms & conditions and an invoice for the costs of hire and insurance to cover each driver.

  • The outstanding balance is required in full a minimum of 4 weeks prior to your collection of the camper van. Should a short notice booking be fulfilled then the full amount will be required upon booking.

Booking Cancellations

Booking cancellations are only accepted in writing, the following charges will apply;

  • The booking deposit made is NON REFUNDABLE 

  • If you cancel your booking within 4 weeks of the commencement of your reservation, you will forfeit your booking deposit and hire charges already paid.

  • Should you arrive for collection and are deemed not suitably licensed to drive the vehicle you will also incur the above charges.

Availability

Should the camper van be unavailable due to circumstance beyond our control due to and including theft, damage, weather conditions or any further circumstances. All monies paid to Four Wheel Escapes will be refunded immediately to any previously booked hirer.

Four Wheel Escapes will however not be responsible for any fees or deposits paid to booked campsites, events, tickets or travel or any other fees paid to other companies. Therefore we expect the hirer to take out their own travel insurance to cover these instances.

Breakdown & Accidents

Should the camper breakdown or be be involved in an accident we provide a breakdown recovery and repair service. All details are kept within the glovebox of the camper van should you require them.

All breakdown, malfunction or damage caused by the hirers negligence must be repaired and made good at the hirers expense without exception.

Insurance & Suitable Persons

  • No persons other than the named drivers on the rental agreement may drive the vehicle.

  • Drivers on the rental agreement should be aged between 23 & 75 years old, in good health, hold a full and valid UK driving license (2 years minimum)

  • Your license cannot have more than 6 penalty points against it for speeding offences. No More than one accident, claim or incident within the past 3 years and NO driving convictions or disqualifications within the last 11 years.

  • Persons with any serious convictions including drink driving within the last 11 yrs will not be insured to drive the vehicle.

  • Guests from abroad are able to drive the vehicle however we will be required to refer to our insurance company to be advised if they are happy to offer insurance cover.

  • Upon hire of our camper van we will require two forms of proof of address from each of the drivers, this needs to be in the form of the following: 1 Utility bill (Electricity, water, Gas, broadband, council tax or landline) and 1 Bank or Credit Statement, credit card bill/statement or Mortgage statement.

  • These must match the address on your drivers license. All 3 items for each driver must be presented at collection of the van. Should the addresses not match then the hire cannot commence and you will forfeit all monies previously paid for the hire of the van.

  • The hirer and all drivers must sign the rental agreement prior to the commencement of the hire.

  • The camper van is comprehensively insured for the named drivers during the hire period only. Additional drivers are added at an additional charge. Please email to enquire.

  • A refundable damages deposit of £750.00 is payable on collection of the van and is fully refunded upon the safe, undamaged return of the camper van on the agreed date and time. In the event of any incurred accident or damage whilst the van is in the hirers possession which requires an insurance claim the full insurance excess of £750.00 will be retained. Any damage or loss to the camper van or its equipment will be deducted from the refundable deposit.

  • Any accident or damage MUST be reported to Four Wheel Escapes immediately by telephone, an accident form will need to be completed up on your return and the end of the hire period.

  • Damage to tyres, windscreen and any theft of personal property is not covered by our insurance and any such damage will be at your own expense. Four Wheel Escapes strongly recommends you take out your own insurance on your personal belongings.

  • Should the camper van be driven by a non-named driver or returned late the insurance is rendered invalid and therefore the driver then commits an offence under the road traffic act. the driver is therefore solely responsible for any damages or personal injuries incurred. 

  • Four Wheel Escapes has the right to refuse handover of the camper van on arrival of the hirer to any person who in our opinion is not suitable to take charge of the vehicle due to any concerns we may have for the safety of the vehicle, its occupants or other road users. in this situation all monies paid to Four Wheel Escapes will be refunded in full immediately. Four Wheel Escapes will have no obligation to refund any monies or deposits paid to campsites, booked events or for booked travel or any further circumstances. It is strongly recommended that holiday insurance is taken out by the hirer personally.

There is unlimited mileage

Limitations & Liability

Four Wheel escapes accepts no responsibility for replacement vehicle costs, travel or accommodation costs or any other loss claims arising from camper van breakdown or accident.

The Hirer:

  • Is liable for any cost incurred from speeding or parking fines, congestion charges or any other offences committed during the hire period against the road traffic act regulations.

  • Must remember that it is offence to drink and drive regardless of the fact the vehicle is for leisure.

  • Undertakes full responsibility for the control of the vehicle on hire to you.

  • Is liable for all overhead damage to the vehicle resulting from any accident. The height of the vehicle is stated on the windscreen of the vehicle.

  • Will not tow any trailer or vehicle behind the hired camper van.

  • Shall not carry more passengers than the seating capacity of the vehicle , as defined in the vehicle specifications or allow the vehicle to become over loaded.

  • Shall to use the vehicle for reward or gain.

  • Shall ensure that all passengers travelling in the vehicle use suitable restraints where required by law. Rear facing and sideways facing seats do not require seatbelts by law.

  • Shall not remove the vehicle from the UK mainland without written consent from Four Wheels Escapes.

 

Animals

We do not allow animals to travel or stay in the camper van. Should it be found that an animal has stayed in the van or its awning the cleaning charges will be deducted from the damages deposit.

Smoking

It is against UK law to smoke in any hire vehicle. A fixed penalty notice of £100.00 will be imposed if customer are found to have been smoking inside the camper van or its awning. The full damage deposit will be retained if damage is caused by smoking in any part of the vehicle.

Vehicle Conditions

  • The hirer accepts the camper van and its contents on collection free from damage or defects unless outlined by Four Wheel Escapes.

  • It is advised that the hirer thoroughly checks the vehicle before leaving Four Wheel HQ and the commencement of the hire.

  • The camper van must be returned on the agreed date and time and in the same condition as when hire started. The toilet must be emptied, fuel tank full, all rubbish and personal belongings removed and clean.

  • There will be a charge for any un-emptied toilet chemical toilets.

  • Charges will be deducted from the damages deposit for any cleaning or repairs of upholstery or flooring.

Fuel, Gas & Oil

  • A full tank of fuel will be supplied with the hire of the vehicle and the vehicle must be returned with a full tank of fuel.

  • Should the camper van require refuelling on return this cost of the fuel plus a surcharge of £25 will be deducted from the damage deposit.

  • The hirer/driver will be liable for incorrect fuel input.

  • It is the responsibility of the hirer to check the levels of water, oil and fuel whilst in possession of the vehicle, using the correct fluids where required to maintain the vehicle.

  • The camper van is fitted with refillable gas bottles which can be swapped at campsites or Calor gas suppliers. The van has two gas bottles supplied for use throughout your hire. please just return the vehicle with its two gas bottles we will refill them at no further charge.
